Knowing I am gonna get beat up on this question,
working up 300 blackout loads with trailboss & reddot
Can I swap out small rifle primers and use small pistol primers ?? (WHY because I have more pistols primers left)
loads will be 10 grns or less bullet 150 grn. lee cast out of a H&R HANDI

some times we gotta improvise to reach our OBJECTIVE

thanx

I would say yes. I haven't done it myself but I shoot reddot in my 270 all the time with Lpp. I think a small dose of fast powder would be fine. If I had ignition problems I would try the magnum version but I don't think you will have any. I don't know what kind of pressures those loads run at but as long as you are below about 37000 you should be ok. I shoot 11-13 grains of reddot in the 270 with a 140 grain slug and a LPP and they shoot good. The substitution you don't want to do is Lrp for Lpp because they are a hair taller.

with loads in the pressure area of revolver loads I always try revolver primers sometimes you increase accuracy, sometimes you have to bump the load to gain back the accuracy you lost from the rifle primers.

No bigger than a 300 blackout case is, you shouldn't have any problem filling it with fire from a pistol primer. Me, I wouldn't give it a second thought. If I had a lot more SPs that SRs, I'd be doin' the same thing.

I also would say yes. I use large pistol primers in my cast boolit .38-55 loads with no issues.
