Working on loads for using the NOE 225-55-FP (same as RCBS 22-55-FP I think) in a 223 ar-15. Normally I like to be 0.020 off the lands, but that puts the case neck on the lube groove. I am concerened that during chambering the boolit will cant in the neck with the side load and no support at the end of the neck. To seat deep enough to provide that support the boolit will be 0.060 off the lands. Further than I like, but may not be a problem. What COAL are you guys loading this boolit to?

I can't remember what the number is right now but I seated them so that atleast half of the forward driving band was in the neck. They shot a little less than one inch at 50 yards. This was within the minute on beer can/ clay birds that I was looking for so I didn't try anything else.

kinda depends on what length you trim the case to don't it?

It would, I trim to 1.750 and let them grow to 1.760. At the most I could gain 0.010" if I kept them all long I suppose.

My OAL for that boolit in .223 rounds is 2.160 and they feed well and are no problem in the mags too.

think about what else that .010 does for you.
there might even be another .005 or more available to you that you aren't using.
