Before I had aspirations of becoming a caster, I have been shooting boolits for a while, purchasing cast boolits from Big Box Stores as well as the smaller caster.

I bought these a while back and am at the end of my "coffee can" supply of them.

I'd like to know what mold makes this boolit and if anyone can identify the lube used. "If it ain't broke why fix it!"

My hopes are I will be able to recreate a boolit close to the ones I have been shooting over the past years.

I am hoping the mold is in stock and the lube is the Red Lube from this forum.

Information I sort of remember: I believe I they were purchased from Stonehouse or Stonewall? He casted in Louisiana I believe, definitely not out west where I was when I purchased them. :) 180gr Bullet, but they weigh 183gr on my scale. They shoot fantastic out of my CZ-75B and now in my XDM 5.25 in .40 S&W.

thanks for the help and opinions.

I've never seen this boolit before! You can do a search of the various mfgrs for a truncated cone (TC), bevel base, concave base, 180 gr, .40 cal mould. I suspect you will have to go to a custom mould maker. Best guess (for me anyways) would be whomever made the magma moulds as that was most likely the mould the commercial caster was using. I think Lee makes a truncated cone design much like that minus the concave base.

It is *close* not exact but *close* to a Lee 401-175 TC standard lube groove, I lube mine with Carnuba Red and shoot them out of my Keltec PT-40 with minute of apple accuracy at 10 yds. Great boolit!

I believe that is a Magmacast design, I think the part number is something like 10-180 or 10-175. They are available from magma engineering adapted to RCBS handles. I am not sure of the lube but it looks like carnauba red, available (and cheaply, I might add) from one of our sponsors at LSStuff.com.

Years ago I bought some like that from "Yellowstone", who I think is out of business now. Magma design. They shot well from my 10mm. I highly recommend the CR lube from LSStuff.com
