I have a Lyman lubrisizer and it leaks a lot of lube out of the bottom, I've already done the jb weld to a plate and it worked for a little whole but started leaking again recently. It is quite annoying. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Are you over-heating it?

I don't think so, the lube comes out of the cracks as a solid

I know you don't want to hear this but...
I "solved" my 450's leaking problem by getting a Star. I'm a happy camper now! A lot of folks prefer the Lyman/RCBS for pointy rifle bullets, but I don't do much rifle and mine are flat points anyway. If/when I have the spare cash, I'm going to replace my few rifle H&I dies with the same for the star and get a second star.

How do you get a 450 to leak? I've got three of them and I can't make them do it.

Mine leaks on both sides of the lube tube in the front

stdI, Search for your answer here: http://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=001951264366462437169:ggn3vg-bjum Btw, it's a simple thing to fix.

Not trying to be a wise guy, but get an RCBS. I had a Lyman and it leaked. It was a pain in the butt. I finally replaced it with a new RCBS. Problem solved and I like the RCBS better. [smilie=w:

Cut a gasket to go under it , from a rubber innertube is best, cardboard.
I think 1 of mine was cut from a cereal box.

That's what I did.

So you just cut 1 layer of inner tube then bolt the sizer down to a base with that in between the two?

I used cork gasket material on mine and it has worked well.

+1 on a gasket

I cut a gasket and then bolted the sizer to a 3/4 plate. So far its leak free

I've tried both cardboard and a heavy gasket material. NG. Didn't have any old inner tubes handy. It seems to me that the problem is very sloppy machining and loose tolerances allow the o-ring to blow-out. I've replaced the o-ring numerous times and even tried a heavier one, still NG. Anything else that's done, like gaskets, are just band-aids. For those who have had success with this, good for you. For those of us who have had zero success, there is always the star.

Leaks aren't the only complaint I have with this thing. I put this *** in the same category as my loadmaster. Sure, they can be forced to "work", but the constant hassles just aren't worth it. Perhaps I just happen to have a really bad example, but I certainly won't be buying another. I will never recommend them to anyone either.

I had a 450 that leaked a little, I cut a gasket to just fit "into" the circle.

The real solution is to have a machinist true the entire bottom surface using a mill.
Good Luck,
Jon

Mine was fixed with a 1/4" piece of rubber gasket.

My 450 had a slight leak in the same place. I solved it by taking a large flat file and smoothed the bottom flat. Then used a piece of tire tube just the size of the bottom of the lumber. It has worked well since. BTW don't over pressure the lube.
