Thinking of buying a few different cast boolit weights and profiles before purchasing molds. I know that there is not one single design that will work good for a 444 Marlin and a 1894 44 Marlin. Kind of thinking 280-290 grain boolits WFN OR LFN for 444 and 265 or so for 44. Is that kind of the way to go about it see what feeds in those guns and my tolerance for recoil with them.

Good idea. You can post in the WTB section of the Selling & Swapping for some boolits.

The 265 grain Ranch Dog mold (no longer available) works well in the 444 Marlin and the 44 Remington Magnum. I would imagine other bullets of about the same weight would also work well in both cartridges.

I have the Ranch Dog 265gn mold and use this boolit for my 444 Marlin. It works very well for feral hog hunting. I actually did a casting run with this mold yesterday testing a new smelter I built this past weekend. PM me your address and I will send you some.
