Do all boolits have to be sized or can you run them right from the mould.
It would be nice not to have to buy extra equipment if you didn't have to.
I want to cast only for my Ruger Vaquero 45 colt.
Thanks Mutt

Mutt,

It will depend on what mold you are using and what the bullet's diameter is once cast. You will also need to slug the cylinder and the barrel to determine what size they are. I have two Ruger 45 colt revolvers and both of their barrels are .451" but on one the cylinder is oversized and inconsistent ranging from .452" - .454". The other cylinder is more consistent at .452".
If you are lucky to have a mold that drops at .452" chances are you would be ok. Even if it were to drop at .453" you should be fine. Smaller than .452" and you will have issues. Lee makes a push through sizer that is really cheap and is easy to use. They are around $20.00 and come in .452". I have a couple of them and they work well and are pretty quick.

Most I size; some I don't. I have a few molds that drop the diameter I want with my alloy of choice. Most notable are my Lee six cavity 44 mold and my Lee six cavity 9mm. The 44 mold drops right at .430" and the 9mm at .357". I just lube and and shoot "as-cast" and both work quite well.

If you don't have a sizer then you probably don't have a micrometer either. I would spend the $20 for a Lee sizer (.452) and run all boolits through it to round them up and it will take care of any variables caused by the occasional mould not closing properly and reveal any problems such as overheated mould causing low areas etc. Reloading goes so much better if all the boolits are consistent. You will then need to pan or tumble lube.
