Dear Members,

I come to you today to ask for your prayers. My daughter has a friend Natalie, she very sick. Unfortunately that is about all I know at the moment due to her less than stellar doctor.

Her parents are scared, and my daughter is worried. This should have been one of my first stops.

Any prayer is helpful.

God bless,

Sully

Ok here goes, and as I understand it. It's going to be a long read. Natalie is homeschooled and met my daughter at their co-op. She has been sick with severe abdominal pain, especially after eating, for a while now. She has been to the pediatrician and several other experts (gasteroenterologists). Nothing. No one could figure anything out. I got my first update a few days ago. Basically her doctor had written her off as having an eating disorder. This was slightly before doing a urine analysis that had significantly higher protein than one done earlier, that had slightly elevated protein. Some of her blood work had turned up as having slightly low protein levels. My wife told me this, and to me it sounds like a reason to bring in the medical board. The doctor would not write a referral to a major hospital in the area, and just said she'd have to wait to see the kidney specialist in three weeks. This was last week late. She started passing out over the weekend, and still the doctor wants her to wait. She's at the hospital right now, still no thanks to the doctors.

OK that is where she is. As my wife said God's fingers have been busy with this painting. After hearing the update about it being in her head, I was at work looking at the website of a church that we'd been attending. I noticed a tab for prayer. Called the wife, and had put the bug in her ear to place a prayer request for little Natalie, I also asked that she place a request with my mother and my home church. Mom let Jasmine know that she had a friend that had connections at this hospital that you need a referral to get into. That bug was placed in Natalie's mother's ear, got her to thinking about the hospital. She waited until today, I guess for the results of some test. The doctors wanted her to wait for an amonia test. She told that to my wife and she remembered the symptoms.

We had close friend die in September of 2012. He'd been complaining of severe abdominal pain, not eating a whole lot, headaches, finally laying down to black out. He was found by my parents comatose. He was on his way out, but he made it to the hospital, and they brought him back around for a while. Turned out he had poor liver function, from who knows what, but he had lost the ability to filter amonia from his system. It eventually ended his life.

We don't know how far along Natalie is in this, we're praying that she will be OK. If we hadn't seen these symptoms before in our friend, well that's speculation against the plan, I'm just not up for it.

Anyway, with events starting back more than a year with our dear friend to here with Natalie, I've seen less convincing things take more imagination to make work. Our friend with his symptoms, our daughter's homeschooling, us finding the co-op, my daughter befriending this little girl, her mother staying in contact with my wife, me being bothered about the doctors, and sending out the call for prayers, finding out we had a contact at the hosptital, her symptoms, the call for an amonia test, to her at the hospital.

Many thanks,

Sully

Update for my daughters friend. It's looking like she may have been developing some new food allergies. They were basically causing sever irritation and swelling. Anyway, she's being treated, haven't heard if she's feeling any better or not.

Thanks for the prayers,

Sully

Finally heard about Natalie today. Apparently it was not all due to a food allergy. They cannot find out what it is that is causing this. Her condition has continued to deteriorate. It's not cancer or anything like that. Please continue praying for her.

Thanks,

Sully

Gibbs, have the parents get the doctors to check her for Valley Fever. They never look for that, and it is supposedly the right conditions for a break out this year. It went around this area and the mid west about ten years ago.

I'll bring that up. I'm told that she is in the hospital now, finally admitted her this past weekend, her feet and hands are blue from what I'm told, and she cannot stand up or hold a cup, the basics. Severe pain in the head and stomach. I can't imagine knowing what the cause was and being unable to help, but not knowing and being unable to help... I hope they can get her patched up soon.

Thanks for the prayers.

I got an update on Natalie. Praise God she is doing some better. The doctors still think it is her food allergies, only thing is they cover more foods than what they first believed. They put her on some protein shakes and she has regained some of her strength. She is back home and still on the protein shakes. Basically all of the fun stuff to eat is not allowed, with the exception of meat and potatoes. No breads, dairy, eggs, nuts, soy, fish and coconut of all things, etc. Not much she can eat. Her system is so out of wack that it is just going to take some time to get her healed up and ready to go. She is still in pain and prayers are still needed. It sounds like the doctors have it figured out.

Thanks all,

Sully

Well folks I've not done a very good job keeping anyone in the loop about Natalie. As of my last post everyone could see the light at the end of the tunnel. Things didn't go so well. Her symptoms came back with a vengeance, severe pain, lots of screaming, so you can imagine the toll it's taken on her family. She's been in several different hospitals with no idea what is really causing this. Some doctors had said that it was all in her mind and that nothing was really wrong with her. She is pretty much bed ridden, and cannot talk from what I understand. She is home because the hospitals cannot help anymore than what they already have. Just sad how a healthy kid, can go to the state she's in, and no one's been able to help. I know the Lord can do many wonderful things, and miracles do still happen. Anyway, please keep her in your prayers, she and her family, need all the help they can get.
