I have seen some various information but nothing really solid. What would be a good load for the .30-30 and the Lee 311-100-2r, together? The powders I have available for this are Bullseye, Titegroup, Unique. I would be lubing them with a blend of Lee liquid Alox and Johnson's Paste Wax.

Thank you

I've got a Lyman 110 gr. PB RN that I have shot in my 30-30 Winchester 25" rifle and my Contender 14" using 3.0 grs. Bullseye. I did not check the FPS but it was a good plinking boolit out to 25 30 yards. I did not use any kind of filler. I think with that weight of boolit you are going to have to keep the FPS kind of slow. I'm not sure it will stabilize at much over 800FPS, and I could be wrong with that. Twist rate for that short of a boolit should be like 1" in 14" or maybe more. The twist rate of my Win. is 1" in 12" and the contender is 1" in 14". I think if I were to speed it up very much more than what the 3 grs of Bullseye did it might not stabilize.

here are some ideas that should get you started.

5 grs of Unique was the early "Short Range" load with a 100 gr. bullet in the .30-30. Velocity was around 1,100 f.p.s.

I've had a little trouble lighting Unique at 8.0 grains under my Saeco 140gr plain base boolit in 30-30.
thirty year old Federal LR primers. Bullet would stick in barrel and powder would dump out into action when case ejected. About one in fifty shots. So maybe the old primers. It seamed though the primer was pushing boolit out before pressure raised enough to combust powder.

Many others have shot tens of thousands of similar loads with no issues. With a small bullet like your 100 grain I'd lean towards a faster powder and possibly pistol primers. I can tell you for sure Unique and others in that burn rate will not have enough pressure to get a case neck seal so you'll have dirty cases and gun action. Red dot , Buyllseye and such would be my choice. I've a lot of 700x here that I will use when I load up more plain base 30-30's. Will keep velocity down around 22 rim fire levels.
