Like the title says, I want to reload for my Tokarev. First thing I did was slug the barrel and pull several old Czech surplus rounds. The surplus bullets all measure 0.309 but the groove diameter of the barrel measures 0.312, does this seem right? The lands in the barrel measure .300 but it seems the bullets are too small for the barrel. I have been taught that when using jacketed bullets you choose the bullet to fit the diameter to match the groove diameter.

If I were to cast lead for this barrel I would need a mold that measures 0.313, but the Lee mold closest to that size is a 0.311, will this work for my purposes?

I'm thinking that you're right when your thinking you need a bigger boolit. I don't know of a LEE boolit that would work, but a Lyman 313-226 or an RCBS 32-84 RN should work just fine. Or, bite the boolit and have Tom at Accurate make you what you want.

You could add some linotype to your WW and they will cast bigger than what is listed. Then again they may cast the right size without the lino.

I have a Polish TT-33 and a Czech CZ 52. The CZ52 slugged out at .3095. Would not chamber a .311 boolit, so boolits sized to .309 were very accurate. The TT-33 does slug out at .312. I have had good luck with the Lee C309-113-F . It drops boolits at about .310. The length of the boolit seems to stabilize itself. I have a Lyman .311, 75 grain mold and a Lyman .313, 85 grain mold. An as cast .313 diameter bullet is very hard to seat in the 7.62 x 25 case mouth, full length sized with a Lee die set. If I load these two boolits, sized to .311, they are far less accurate than when fired in the CZ52. My next move is to hone out a Lee .311 sizing die to .3125, and in parallel look for a full length die that leaves a larger case mouth. The TT-33 will shoot South African surplus ammo surprisingly well. I have not pulled a bullet to measure it. The CZ 52 is a dream compared to the TT-33, but I am not done trying to make the right ammo for it. I never looked for a smaller weight Lee mold. Bought the two Lyman dies that are referenced with 7.62 x 25 load data in the Lyman cast bullet handbook. Good luck.
