338 Federal

the 338 Federal is built around the 308 cartrage can you use 308 brass for making into 338 federals when reloading this round?

I haven't seen a saami drawing of the 338 fed, but I believe it is nothing more than a .308 necked up with no other changes (like the .358 win). So, then yes, just lube the inside of the neck and run it through the sizing die. It helps a great deal if the die has a tapered expander ball.

I have read "just-a-little-bit" on the new 338-08, and I have to say I do like what I've read so far.....very impressive for those of us who like the .338 bullet.
However, like many others, I have just not read the right stuff...yet, but I have a sneakin suspicion it is nothing more than a .308 necked up and has actually been around for years with little fan fare due to available powders for the time.
