I was able to pick up a nice supple of lead today! This guy had 3 "bars" of melted wheel weights and a "bar" of real soft lead he did not need. Total weight was 116 pounds and I took it off his hands for $60.00!

You can see I put a .356" 124 grain boolit on it for reference. The bottom three are melted wheel weights and the top rectangular shaped one is very soft lead. The wheel weight ones have the ringing sound when tapped with a hammer and the other one is simply a "thud", no ring at all. I'm assuming that one is from some medical equipment/room/door etc.

Good score! Lead is getting harder to find, and sweeter when you do find it. :)

Is that a supply of lead, or supple lead... lol.. either works ;)

A couple weeks ago, a buddy of mine gave me about 300# of wheel weights
already melted into ingots. The price.... 2 to 300 cast and sized .44 bullets.
Can't hardly beat that now can you?

300 cast boolits for 300# of lead? You sure you will have enough? ;)

A very good deal indeed.
A local scrap yard has offered to sell me sailboat keels for 70 cents a pound, and wheel weights for 55. I may take him up on the deal. He buys my scrap copper jackets which I get from processing range scrap for $1.45 a pound. Nice guy

I've seen stuff like that one on top before. There is a manufacturer on the web that sells pieces like that, shaped so that they join together sort of like tounge-in-groove flooring. But made to create lead barriers for medical or other applications. Maybe to keep Uncle Sam from spying in on us too. Neat stuff.
