this 38 super,if i'm lucky enough to get it, has a kart barrel . anyone know if this particular barrel headspaces on the case mouth or rim (semi-rim)? will using .358 ,158gr. cast boolets seated in 38super case have a slight bulge at the case neck portion of the case as opposed to the rest of the case, and if so will it cause feeding problems .thanks for all the help.

It depends.......mainly on when the barrel was made. The change over started sometime in the late '70's and continued for a decade or more. I think Colt was the last major player to make the change.

Kart was around before that, so there's no way to tell without knowing the history of the gun.

Ditto for the case bulge.......depends on the chamber dimensions.

Best course of action is to work up a load for the gun and shoot it for group size. If it isn't satisfactory, get the advice of a good gunsmith.
