Anyone here have or been around that lever rifle in 500 S&W? Just wondering if it is worth having.

pdawg shooter,

I can only comment on your question from a slightly different position.

I owned a Marlin .44 mag and should never have sold it. I shot my normal RUGER RedHawk loads of a 310gr LFN cast (long flat nose) and it was a thumper!

That load gives me just over 1300fps from the 5.5" RedHawk, so there would have been at least some increase with the longer barrel.

If you already have a 500 handgun, I vote to go for it. If not, my vote would be for the 45/70 just for the fact it is without question one great cartridge with a WFN cast bullet of over 400gr.

I guess I am guilty of the idea, the first builds, the first elk killed with one(or animal period). My involvement with that company is no longer..............
I have shot thousands of rounds in them, cast and jacketed, from sedate to ridiculous loads. Today, I FINALLY got one for me that is mine, all mine. The cartridge is interesting in a rifle, add 500 feet per second to 4" handgun velocities!!!!! What else?

Since I live in the neighborhood, I'll be getting a test sample of the BHA rifle in a couple of weeks. When I finish the T&E I'll post the link.

Do that please. I am interested if the quality is there.

Sorry guys, but all the abreavations seen on the forum posts leave a bunch of us lost.

What is a "BHA"?

I am guessing that T&E means testing and evaluation, but??????????
