Named Little Sheba 'cause of how long it took to come back from the barrel smith. Thought it would never come home.
Looking into a tang mounted ladder peep.

Have been using a rifling pre-engraved 310 grainer. This lighter boolit is from some NEI blocks I got thirty years ago for an 1870's bolt action. It drops out at .395" and 251 grains with soft lead. Best groups so far are with cotton onion skin paper, two dry soft cards 7/16" diameter and 70 grains of FFg. Using a .399" push through sizer from Tennessee Bullet Molds. Shooting less than 2" at 50 yards, 1432 FPS with the chrono 10 yards from the bench. The boolit at left was expanded by three gallon milk jugs of water.

Left handed lock?

Looks like she shoots well with those paper patch boolits, anyway, and looks like plenty of power there for your accuracy range. How do you keep the fouling soft with the dry paper and wads, or does the tight boolit scrape it back so it can blow out?

thanks for the post good cheer. i have a .50 cal longdistance muzzleloader that i was thinking of rebarreling to a .40 cal also. less recoil and a lot cheaper to shoot. then i saw your post, perfect timing. what twist rate is your barrel? i was thinking of 1/14 so i could shoot 1.4 long bullets. i have a swageing die that swages to .40 and all i need is a push through reduceing die to go with it.apparently .399 isnt too tight to go down the bore after wrapping and sizeing. i would appreciate all the info you can give on your barrel if you dont mind and bullets in detail. thanks before hand

Hey there.
The barrel has a 16" twist.
It gets swabbed and dry patched between shots.

Good Cheer, that gun is worth the wait, especially being a lefty. Discrimination against us lefties continues but equal opportunity is slowly getting better for us lefties!
