Which twist rate guys? Planning to shoot cast, when I can find a mold that is. I'd prefer to shoot lighter bullets just to save lead. As I understand it the 1:8 twist far more forgiving with boolit weight, where the 1:7 is more for the subsonic crowd. I have no plans to suppress. Thoughts?

If your shooting lighter cast boolits then the slower 1:8 twist would be more forgiving.

I just ordered a 160 grain mold, how would that work in a 1:7? still too light?

Haven't got to shoot it yet but I have a 1:8 barrel for my 77
For that matter I don't have projectiles or a mold to make em

I shoot both supers and subs in mine all casts so 1/8 is what I chose. I have a stainless carbine gasses 16" Stoner barrel, and a 8.5" CMMG with a pistol gas port of course.

It will work but the faster the twist the more stress on the boolit and the lead tends to want to strip in the rifling and leading then occurs.
Hopefully your 1:7 barrel will grip well enough and the alloy you use hangs in there and you don't wind up with any leading.
