It was taken from a hospital, probably an MRI or xray room.
A little stinky with all the drywall paper, and liquid nails, but I got a fair amount smelted and ready for alloying.
Who's got a link to a great pure lead to perfect alloy formula?
A friend stopped by and asked what I was doing. I told her I was melting down all my platinum.

Did she ask for a new Mercedes Benz with all the platinum? I nice score, what's the story? I've been looking for medical lead but no idea where to start

I found this at the scrap yard. I guess someone demo'd an xray room. That's all there is to the story.
I'm positive if this was platinum, and my wife would go along with it, I'd gladly buy this gal a benz. :somekindofnaughtysmiley:

Good score. I hit that same jackpot a few years ago in a Michigan yard. A doctor's X-ray room being remodeled. It was nasty with that glue residue burning off in the pot, but I got 250+ lbs. of nice lead out if it. Kept about 20 lbs. in sheet form for padding vise jaws and whatnot.

P/M me with an email address and I'll send you the alloying spreadsheet I have in Excel.

Your cannonball mold doesn't look to be filling out well. ;-)

It's because they're not superglued together yet.

in the lead and alloy section there is a good alloy calculator.
i'd just mix it 3 parts of yours to 1 part linotype and throw it in with my ww alloy 1 to 1.

Sell it. Pure is good for the BP crowd. Then buy whatever alloy you want. Or trade it for ww.

I alloy my pure lead with chilled hard birdshot I pick up cheap at gun shows (got 25# of shot for $10 last weekend). Since the hard birdshot has plenty of antimony and arsenic in it for hardness making it far too hard for good boolits IMO, I mix it 2 parts pure to one part shot then add a little extra tin for rifle loads.
