Sort brass.

depriming and repriming your brass. Or, after you deprime, prime, she can put in loading blocks for you. She can also help you straighten your work space.

definately have her dump powder. especially if she is a great cook. a dash of this and a pinch more of that...

or just be smart and take her to dinner at a nice restraunt.

If I was in that situation I would have her either trim or lube rifle cases.

To be on the safe side I would opt for the dinner mentioned earlier. Then she might want to help you and it would be more than just for an hour.

I'd collect the brass you want polished, have her dump it in the tumbler, then go out to dinner. :)

i was thinking something along the lines of dinner i don't want her to hate reloading. probably will have her help me make 10 or so 7.7 JAP and then go out .

Rick
we were going to church and she spent a little too much time getting ready, and i told her we were going to be late and she tole me "i bet we wont" so i took her up on that bet (we were 20 min late)

"She can also help you straighten your work space."

Honorable sentiment, invitation to chaos. Just saying. (If you have the kind of wife who will put your keys or wallet in a "better" place to "help" you, imagine her loosed upon your components.)

You consider that winning?

I would say size and de-prime pistol cases with carbide dies (No lube on her hands) and then reload them. But only about 20-50 and she gets to shoot all of them. Then take her out to dinner.

Trim cases and clean primer pockets while constantly reminding her that she lost the bet.

I would be careful gloating too much on winning a bet against the wife.

I would sooner wrestle a grizzly than really irritate my spouse. One can easily cause extreme personal harm, wounds, and even death, the other is a bear.

Lube and size.

Sorry I am still trying to get past the idea that my wife would admit she had lost the bet. She would tell me it was my fault because I drove to slow after she was ready.

put her on the machine. My wife likes to load her ammo, 45, 357 and buckshot loads. Next is to get her into the lead shed and start pouring her own. She just likes to shoot and make things so she finds it enjoyable. For me it's about her being self sufficient.

load some wax bullets, shoot im in the backyard. call it primer testing, let her know it was a huge help and then go to dinner.

Take her to the range and let her empty some cases for you. That will leave you more to reload and cast for. Dinner out is the safe bet though ;)

I can't speak for anyone but me, but I don't want the ol lady anywhere near my loading room! She's one of those constant cleaner uppers and insists everything belongs where SHE puts it! Play it safe! Take her to Dinner, tell her how good she looks and call it good. You'll be better off in the long run.

my wife is the same way but she normally stays out of the garage.

I think I would agree with those who said throw the brass in the tumbler then go to dinner. The way I see it you may have won the fight but you'll lose the battle in the long run if yours is like mine! Plus you already got bragging rights.

Nobody's asked what to me is the critical question - Does she shoot? If so have her load a box of her ammo. She will begin to appreciate what you do.

She can also help you straighten your work space.

Make sure you are there with her to see where everything goes! My wife had to clean my shop once years ago, after I had an allergic reaction to some exotic hardwood that I was using to make pistol grips. She had to remove all the dust from grinding the wood. In the process she moved/relocated everything in my shop. I did not find everything until years later when I had to pack up my shop to move! :)

If you want her to keep helping, let her watch the process and see what she would like to do. Then branch out from there.

And betting/arguing with a woman is not a good idea. Even when you win, you lose!

She would tell me it was my fault because I drove to slow after she was ready. Good dinner and good wine. You never win a bet. Just show you are a good loser.

Trim cases and clean primer pockets while constantly reminding her that she lost the bet.

I like this one.

I also have a LFRB full of 9mm brass stuck in 40 brass stuck in 45 acp brass that I have been putting of separating for the last 4 years now. I would have her get started on that.

If you're not afraid of her you could always have her shake your tumbler for a few hours.

I like having her load her ammo.

show her how to clean brass , walk a bout 10 cases thru the hole routine then have the turret or progressive set up to load her ammo then watch her do them , if she wants to continue let her , otherwise go to dinner , even if she decides to finish a hole box then go to dinner

use it more as a teaching time than , grunt work

now if anyone needs brass sorted I have a son who sorts and decaps brass , all he wants in payment is to shoot all your ammo

Doc Highwall
03-28-2013, 09:35 AM
I agree with no grunt work and nothing too dirty which is why I suggested using carbide dies and a pistol caliber.

i think i am going to go with having her load 5 or so 7.7 JAP and 10 to 20 38 spl (carbide dies)and then go out for dinner thanks for all the replies i will try to snap a pic of her reloading (no promises)

so last night i had her make 3 rounds of 7.7 JAP and she ended up making 5 rounds of 38 spl she was a little upset that she did not cast what she reloaded, so now the wants to have a casting session followed by another reloading session so she can reload what she cast. so all in all turned out to be fun for both.

Doc Highwall
03-29-2013, 08:51 AM
Great start. Remember light loads that do not have much recoil or muzzle blast will make her come back. She will let you know if and when she wants to shoot a heavier load.
Don't forget to bring a 22Lr. and reactive targets like cans or plastic bottles really get their attention.
(Don't forget to pick up the targets)
