View Full Version : Do you use that little pocket on the right side of your jeans?

I've always ignored it. Now that I'm using a pocket watch, it's invaluable to me. One train of thought is that's the original purpose for such a pocket. Some folks say it's for keeping your spare change policed up.

Back when I was but a young lad, everyone actually called this the "watch pocket". I have occasionally carried change in mine, but rarely use it for anything.

I use it to hold a pair of children's scissors when I tie tomatoes. It is much faster than a knife. I will be using it as soon as I get up from the computer.

I keep change in that little pocket. Back when I actually carried a pocket watch I used that pocket for its intended purpose.

Don't ever bother with it. Put change in it once and had problems getting it back out so that ended that experiment. I prefer carpenters jeans with pockets down on the leg. They're indispensable for carrying your cell phone. And of course for their intended purposes on the job.

Don't use it, I carry my wallet in my right front pocket and anything I would put in the little pocket just gets in the way of whipping my wallet out when I find a great deal.

I've always heard it called a watch pocket. I havent carried a pocket watch much, but when I do it's there.
Sadly most of my jeans dont have a watch pocket now. This seems to be the trend. Two different brands are without it. :(

I used to carry a watch in the watch pocket occasionally. Now the little Buck Metro rides there:

I thought everyone already knew that was a watch pocket? Back when pocket watches were common that's what it was intended for and it's just a carry-over from that.

About the only thing I find it useful for is carrying a cell phone.

I carried a pocket watch for years, but the Levi's watch pocket is too small for a full-sized one, so I ended up getting a cheapo quartz miniature job that would fit. The pocket is in such a place that anything long (like a folding knife) gores me in the abdomen when I stoop over or sit down. Plastic remote key fobs get crushed in there. It's about only useful for two things: Small pocket watches and three .45/90 cartridges.

Whoremonging trash use it for storing a parachute, should they find an opportunity to jump.

I have a pair of khakis that have a little "storage pocket" on the right front belt loop. I have another pair that has one inside the right front pocket. Apparently even clothing manufacturers are trying to help prevent the spread of VD's.

Hey! I think I have found a lawsuit! I'm left handed and it is discrimination against all left handers to have to use the non dominate hand instead of the left hand. I must have probably, maybe, could have been mentally handicapped from such trama in my early years. Since the majority (right handers) cannot have things their way (and be fair) then us left handers (the minority) should be able to make things go our way. I really think that in an Illinois court (if presented this way) I'd stand a great chance of winning. And here I thought the Lottery was my only chance of getting rich.

Years ago, when I found out about Levi Strauss being rabidly anti-gun, I switched to Wranglers. That was about the time Levi closed the San Jose, CA plant and moved production to Viet Nam and China. AFAIK Wrangler hasn't announced a position on guns. Wranglers are made in Costa Rica which has more women than men, great fishing, and no army. Who could dislike a country like that?

Adam10mm
03-24-2013, 12:35 AM
Wranglers supports and sponsors a bunch of hunting and fishing shows. In any store by me, they're the only jeans brand that also make camo jeans. I'm taking those hints that they support the outdoors.

I keep a clip on pocket knife there on the rare occasion I'm in a state where I don't need clean access to my right front pocket. IMO it's on the wrong side as about anything you might use it for obstructs the main right front pocket which is the important one.

Nope, the fob is attached to the watch, hangs over the pocket to be grabbed to pull the watch out. It also reminds you that it's there - I never had one!

Wayne Smith said " Now I wear my watch in my vest."

I can't find a vest with a watch pocket in it other than a going out vest. I don't dress up very often lately but when I do my fancy pants only have a watch pocket that I've sewn in them. I can hide it inside the big right front pocket and then nobody knows how low my sewing standards are.

I always have a folding knife clipped in the main right-side pocket. That little "watch" pocket is perfect for a small fire-steel or flint chip. I can do the whole 'primitive fire' thing many different ways, but don't prefer to if I don't have to. I'm never without fire.

I like the thought and would probably buy there but they should offer hemming service for us short folks. For $50 a pair they should hem to any damn size and ship. I can buy wranglers at the army navy and they'll hem for free and I can get 2 pairs. Not sure if they're still made in the USA though. They sure used to be. ETA - damn, hecho en mexico
