In about an hour I'll be on our way to the airport.
Will leave for Brisbane, Australia, should be there tomorrow
at this time not counting a 7 hour lay-over at LAX.
I have my guns and other valuables farmed out to 4 different people.
Have several people watching the house while were gone.
Will try to keep up my annoying post with my Kindle.
Reason for the trip down-under, son lives there and is getting married.

That sounds like a great trip. When I was over in Viet-Nam, you could take a R&R to Hawaii or Australia. I almost went to Australia but I eventually figured out that if I left Nam, I would probably not return so I stayed. I hope you have a great time over there.

Welcome & the best to your son & future daughter-in-law.

You should just miss the wet season, generally through November - April, and they've had a wet one this year. [smilie=l:

G'day! Hope you enjoy your stay down here.
Sure hope you get the chance to have a look anound to, slip out into the country if you can.
Better yet take a drive across the joint. The only way to get the feel of size and vastness.
Also hope those "bannana benders" make yah feel welcome.
I know us "sand gropers" would :-)

Watch Out! My uncle went to Australia and never returned. He said he was happy but his voice had changed. That's the only way you can tell for sure. After 30 years you'd never know he was from the US. Gotta be some sort of mind control! :veryconfu

Australia is a lot like Texas, except for the gun-laws madness. I blame that on the lingering British influence and the transplants.

Beautiful women, rugged men, wide open spaces, areas of beauty that will take your breath away and when an Australian befriends you, much the same as a Texan, you have a "mate" for life and through thick or thin.

Congrats to your son, and travel safe.

I managed to do a once in a lifetime Buff hunt in the NT outback last summer. There was lots of hunting and great folks! I want to go back again, now the Mrs. wants to go too.

One of the VERY few places that I'd leave the good ole USA to go see. Have a safe and enjoyable trip and congratulations on the addition to the family.

Well the flight was 14 hours, but more time in the it then I care for.
It's hot and humid here, was snow on the ground when we left home,
85° here now.
My son's future father-in-law has been driving us around showing us the sights.
At my sons house in Chelmer now and will be going out to eat soon.

I'm not much of a beer drinker.

More later.

I found out that there is free internet in Cairns, and it only cost 75¢ a minute, and it is charged to your hotel bill.
Took a ferry to Green Island out in the Great Barrier Reef. Spent the day. If you want to throw away $750, you can spend the night there.
Weather was great, only a few sprinkles in the morning.

The oriental are rude and arrogant.
Be glad to get to a regular key board, the one on this kindle is a challenge.

So,,,,, where do I meet you to take posession of my blonde?
Brunette is my second choice.
But a redhead will get you bonus points!
Jeese, I love that accent.

Plant the seed to oust the brits and make it a free country that can own any type gun while there.

When folks are finished we may well need a place to retreat to.

Remember if we don't see pictures from Down under it did not happen

Not withstanding our crappy gun laws, have to agree with you on living here in Oz......have you had a chance to check our gun laws yet, hilarious aint they.

And I hate to admit it being an Aussie.............you would love NZ & its gun laws, much the same you have at home

Just got home 6 hrs ago with 5 hrs sleep.
I'm up making coffee and breakfast for my redheaded spouse of 37 years.
Only, nowadays the red comes out of a bottle.

I hate to say this, because it may take away from my "harmless ol' man" image,
But they're we're a lot of redheads in Australia that made me wish I were 40 years younger.

I will post some pictures here of my trip to Australia over the next week or so.
Below is the bird we rode to LAX from Chicago.

This one is the plane we flew on from LAX to Brisbane,
14 Hrs in the air was a long cramped trip.

Took this picture traveling from the air port to the "cottage"

This is the "cottage" that Ken and Trish let us stay at,
it's a converted garage very smartly done.
