View Full Version : Going into hospital tomorrow

The day has finally come. Tomorrow, get up at 6 a.m., no breakfast, go to hospital and do pre-op testing (X-rays, bloodwork) then, because of the travel distance (over two hours each way) they are putting my wife and I up in a "Hope House" overnight. Friday, 6:30 a.m. surgery on this bum shoulder (finally). At least we won't have to get up Fri. morning at 3 a.m. to head out to the hospital...especially since there is a lake-effect snowstorm coming thru with 3-5 inches accumulation expected.

Four weeks in a sling; no use whatever; followed by four weeks of physical therapy, followed by four weeks strength training and done.

.375 H&H, heavy loaded .45-70 and .458 mag's here I come!

Might even be some piggy hunting in my near future.

I know where you could put those calibers to good use.
Many prayers sent.

Vern, I got some IV tubes, lots of that tape that will pull every single hair on your arm and chest off, a pair of non-skid hospital socks and one of those "there is no dignity in this hospital gown that shows your nekkid butt" still left from my most recent stay in the hospital.

Where do you want me to send them? :)

Prayers for a speedy and positive experience.

Prayers going up for you and your surgeon, Vern. Don't push the recovery, you can do more damage than they fixed!

Best of luck! The advice to take the recovery slow is excellent advice. If you want those heavy calibers to be a permanent fixture, don't push it. Do whatever your care givers tell you to do and you will recover a lot quicker.

Again, thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. Wife and I are checked into the "House of Hope" and tucked in for the night. Had the pre-op X-ray and blood work done, consulted with the surgeon, picked up the fancy-dancy arm sling the doc ordered (at my expense) at the medical supply Depot.

Nothing left but to try to get some rest and get up at 0530 to shower and report for surgery.

At least get to sleep with the wife :-), she had to come to drive me home, not that I could have kept her away with a squad of marines.

Blessings to all,
will stay in touch.

I often marvel at what I did to deserve the wonderful wife I have. Just like yours, nothing was going to keep her away on surgery day.

Just be glad it's not something involving both arms. You would soon find out who your friends really are. GW
