First round of casting was less than stellar results. I re-cast all my lead, which is all WW by the way. No pics this time of the casting, just the sizing.

Because I water-quenched, I put the boolits outside on the patio to dry the next day.

Easy to see difference between non-lubed and lubed when I added new bullets to get coated.

I cast over 1,000 boolits - maybe 1,100 or so. This is after tumble lubing.

This bullet is dying to be sized.

Note that I have posted separately asking for advice regarding the lead build-up at the base of the punch.

These guys are now sized, but seem more than a little more naked than they were going in. They're shiny & are a bit lighter now. Is this a problem?

Took me about 2.5+ hours to cast I think. That doesn't count the post-cast prep time to set them out to dry after quench, time lubing them, sizing, etc. I wasn't paying enough attention for the post-cast timing, but I'll gauge it next round.

Try loading about a dozen or so unsized and just lubed. You might find that you can shoot them as cast and skip an entire process.

keep your thumb off the sprue cutter this will open the mold slightly.
anyway I would measure everything that is a lot of sizing down.

I like to mic the boolits before sizing. Are the boolits shiny all the way around the lube grooves or does one section not get touched by the sizing die? I have had boolits way out of round because of the way I was casting. Practice is fun but I had to try to learn from each session. Am I keeping the temp the same, the flow into the mold the same, the tension on the mold handles the same. If you end up with a skirt around the bottom of the boolit, run them through the die nose first.

Two things - First, some of the boolits appear to be fatter than the others, judging by the marks left by the sizing die. Some of them got squeezed pretty good, others, not. By fatter, I mean before sizing. As r5r said, be sure to keep your hands off the sprue cutter handle when casting and be sure the mold is completely closed before pouring.
Second - It looks like the boolits aren't tumble lubed prior to sizing. IF that's correct, this will cause problems with lead building up in the sizing die. Maybe you did lube them first. If not, be sure to TL the boolits before and after sizing. Other than that - you're on the right track. Wait till
you get to shoot some !!! Very satisfying, having done them yourself. Keep up the good work.
