Long time lurker and first time poster so please forgive me if this is the wrong section. My father gave me a 1940s Model 99 a while back that I plan to give my son. I'm just starting to cast and reload and have ordered some lee dies for it. Having trouble finding brass for it. Some sites that list it as available look a little sketchy. Any recommendations on finding 100 pcs of brass would be appreciated.

Try Buffalo Arms, Graff's, Natchez. There are more but can't think of them at the moment. Not a lot of demand on .300 Sav so you may find some in stock. I think it is one of the seasonal runs so not always available. If you find some, I would buy 500 for a life time supply. It stretches so does not last a long time. I think it can be made from .22-250. .243 and .308 will also make it but as I recall, setting the shoulder is a bugger; the .22-250 is an expand and fire form trick.

Precision Reloading has some Hornady in stock. Boy this stuff is getting pricey.

Huntington's is a bit more expensive than Graf's or Natchez but they DO have Winchester .300 Savage brass in stock.

308 will also make it but as I recall, setting the shoulder is a bugger; Using a comparator tool to set up your resizing die with first >is very helpful. Then annealing the 308 brass before its resizing again is helpful. I make all my 300 Savage out of 308 Fed once fires. As corny as this may sound I honestly prefer the 308 brass over factory 300 brass.

I haven't looked in a while, but the local sportsmans generally has it in stock at reasonable prices, loaded ammo too.
I got a pretty good stash of it from Starreloader, a vendor sponsor here on CB for a great price.

Wow I completely missed that I was responding to an ancient thread. I try to watch for that but sometimes I don't pay attention very well.

Anyone still need .300 sav? I have some Remington virgin brass cases I can part with. It's old stock, you can think of it. With no tarnishing, only light natural patina.

Hornady brass is good. I'm still trying to wear out 50 .308s that I necked up to .358 10 loadings ago.
Six point five I have some used .300 Sav brass if you're interested.
