View Full Version : What to do with 45 cal lead balls?

Would 100 or so lead balls be bettersuited keeping as is or melting down for casting. I may end up with a muzzle loader but probably not.

Worth having just to slug barrels. Not enough lead to justify destroying them for casting something else.

Driving a soft lead ball or sinker through the bore with a rod to measure the diameter of the lands and grooves. Pretty common when picking a bullet diameter for your favorite firearm. Do a search, you'll get lots of info.

And not only is everyone new to this at some point, changing what you are doing sets you back to newbie in a hurry. I have cast round bal for a while, but casting for centerfire is a whole new ball of wax. Now, if that wax was carnuba, I could ...

well, ive got a bunch of lead balls that I dont know what to do with. =) and no 45 caliber weapons to swag. Any suggestions?

I got carried away a while back and cast WAY too many 50 cal RB. I used a few dozen to weigh down my cleaning rack, my bench sled and made a couple of "sandbags" with them.
