I have not done any casting before and have some questions.

I have done quite a bit of searching of the site and reading of various threads and have a couple of questions which I am hoping someone could help me with.

I have BRNO 601 in .308 which I am hoping to cast and reload for. I have been looking at various Lee molds and am think about getting a LEE MOULD D C C309-150-F.

My questions are does anyone have a Brno that they cast for and what mold did you use? And with what results?

My other question is regarding resizing and gas checks. My understanding is that I need to use gas checks and that to fit them it is normal to use a resized to fit the gas checks. If this is the case what size resizing die should I use for bullets cast from the LEE MOULD D C C309-150-F, for my .308 BRNO.

Thanks for any help in advance. This site is an amazing resource to learn from.

I would use a .311 size.I have used .309 and .311 in mine.They are a nice little rifle.

I don't have a .308 currently but do use the Lee 309-150_FP in 30-30 with great results. I size .311.

I cast the Lee 309-150-FPGC and the 309-170-FP GC from WW, clip the GC on with finger pressure, pan lube using this method:

Then use the Lee .311 sizer to crimp on the GC and size the boolit (also neatens the lube in the grooves ready for loading).

My pan lube is Bee Wax, Petroleum Jelly, Lanolin (all cheap and easy to purchase locally), there are my pictures here:

For the Lee TL314-90-SWC I use straight Lee Liquid Alox or the recluse 45/45/10 Tumble lube made easy method:

Don't forget if you are ordering a sizing die you also need a neck expanding die - Lee make a simple one for all calibres (which I use with great results), Lyman make the more customisable M Die for each calibre which more advanced people than I swear by.

If it is a normal, unworn factory .308 barrel I would be comfortable in just ordering at .311 Lee sizing die. If you do want to slug and see what your barrel is, this is the best tutorial I have seen:

with a good picture of the difference between bore, groove and lands.

I didnt even slug the bore of this particular rifle, I just filled the throat.
