I just got a used Ruger Blackhawk in 41Mag 6.5" Bbl, and used Navy Arms Schofield Wells Fargo Model 45LC with a 5" Bbl both in very nice cond.

I need a little help on what to feed each of them. I now shoot a light load in my 45LC Rugers with 6.3gr Unique and a 308gr cast boolit but don't have a mold or boolits for the 41Mag. I also cast both 255gr and 252gr boolits for my Colt SAA 45LC, and shoot them from my 2ed Gen Colt SAA.

One question is, do you think the light 308gr (650fps) load is too much for the Schofield? I plan to try all my loads in the gun to see what shoots the best.

Any help you can give would be great.

My plinking load for 45 Colt is 5.0 grains of Titegroup with a 250 gr RNFP or SWC. It is a standard velocity load and won't cause undue wear on your Schofield.

My favorite 41 loads include any of the 200-220 grain SWC with 8 grains of Unique. Not too hot but is good for daily use and practice.

Hope that was what your were asking for.

7 to 8 gr of Unique will make you happy with the .41 ///no clue about the other though

I now shoot 8grains if Unique and 200gr or so 41mag boolits, and 6.3 grains of Unique with my 252/255gr 45LC boolits. Both seem to shoot great with the loads. The Schofield is a hoot to target shoot with as you can reload it real fast.

P.S. The 41Mag is now one of the best shooting handguns I have.

I recently switched from 8/Unique/410459 to 6/231/210 RCBS and I really like it in my M57. Not that there were any flies on 8/Unique.
