Anybody have any load data using Red Dot they use with this pill? I'm thinking about just loading some up with 4.7gr and see how they shoot. My load for the Lee 230gr 1R is 4.7gr of Red Dot. So I wouldn't think there'd be too much pressure with this. But there is a little more lead sticking down in the case, and I'll be forced to use LP Mag primers. So I'm a little cautious.

4.7 sounds reasonable to me.

Assuming you are talking about 45 acp, yes.

I am talking about the .45acp. You don't think 4.7 is too much considering the magnum primer? starting load for 225g in the lyman manual is 4.3 max is 5.3. However, I don't have a disk that drops that. Only 4.1 and then the next up is 4.7 according to my data. My other load shoots great with 4.5gr. So I wouldn't think it would be a lot more pressure. But with the deeper seating boolit, and a mag primer, I wonder.

Iam just starting out in casting and that is one of the molds I liked. That the small or large hole? How you like the mold? Would like to know how they feed. Think I could buy a hand full or two???

I like the mold. Haven't gotten to shoot it a whole lot yet. And I've noticed I do get a ring around the boolit when seating. But not horribly bad. I am going to have to work on that seater die.

If you have a chronograph then I would work toward 800-825 fps. I have the mold and IIRC 5.5 grains of Unique will do 830 fps. Considering the deeper seating of lead in the case and the mag primer I would run 4.3 grains and work up.

with a magnum primer I might be a little careful with this charge of Red Dot. I've been using Promo which is equal weight with Red Dot and my data lists 5.2gr of Red Dot with a 230gr lead target and a standard primer and 5gr under a 230JHP also over a standard primer. I've been having good luck at 4.2gr with a standard primer under a 230gr LRN so you might want to try the 4.1gr and shoot that some first with a Mag Primer. I'd be careful and check the brass real close when working up to 4.7 but I don't think it is too much.
My opinion on this is worth what you just paid for it, however.

This sounds reasonable to me.
I used the 5.5 grains of Unique and got 840 fps out of my commander length 1911.
