Had this rifle for a while and it shoots j-words real well and is to me a great calibre. I've even shot a few patched boolits through it - 125gr which seemed like a good weight far lead. But now I'm thinking of trying cast in it - patching those small boolits is a bit of a pain (not as bad a 22 cal). I'm not a gas check person and I don't buy molds - I make my own molds. Most folks have seen a 25-303 let alone shoot one but it would lie between the 250 Savage and 257 Roberts and has a neck about 1½ diameters. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My powder available are W780, W748, H4350 and lower down the scale, H4227, Lil'Gun, shotgun powder (not even going to consider that!) Actually, I'm only interested in the rifle powders, particularly ones that come close to filling the case. The rifle is a 1-in-10 twist.

I am hoping for pretty decent velocity with perhaps 120gr boolits but as light as 100gr will do if that's what gets the velocity up.

I would think it would be very close to the old 25 Kraig which was very populer at one time.
I still have some old data books that include the 25 Kraig and 25 Imp. I think my book by Phill Sharp has cast boolit loads as well but cant be sure without checking.

The 25 Krag would be closer than a 257 Roberts. I would appreciate if you could find that data.

The 25 Krag AI has 2gr more powder capacity than the 257 Roberts AI, so I would think the non AI would have something similar but not exactly the same relationship. It also has about 2gr less than the 25-06. The old Sierra manual has data for the Roberts and the Roberts AI, and Ackley's books have data. Sharpe's data has a reputation of being a little adventurous.

Ackley also has data for the 25-303. PM me your e-mail and I will send you a scan of the page.
