Hi All, I'm a newbie and was told to try this section.. I shoot an original .58 1863 Springfield. I've tried .577 minis from my Lee mould and they keyhole. I bought some 580 and 585 's from Track of the Wolf and the 585's work. So..I'm in need of a mini bullet mould size .585 The old Lyman 585-213 is perfect. That's what Track casts them from, but they don't have the mould.
Anyone know where I can get one? Anyone have one they want to part with?
thanks....

I'd be looking to someone like Mountain Molds (http://www.mountainmolds.com/) to help you or Accurate Molds (http://accuratemolds.com/index.php) or look around to someone like Lee precision who for $100 will let you design your own mold.

Aloha... 8-)

Ken, Until you locate the Ly. 585213 or have a custom mold made, why not paper patch the undersized CB's to .585"?

Hey Maven. I just came back from the range doing just that. I've been paperpatching my Sharps for years. but even with 002 paper . wet or dry. with SPG, they are still not quite right. some go dead center at 50, one keyholes. The 585's just keep hitting in 2 or 3 inches. So that's what I have to go for. I guess I may have to shell out the $$$ and do it right.
One gent offered to open up my Lee 577 to 585, but to be honest, I don't think that will work. the bullet will still be too large even though the driving bands are 585.
boys and their toys..huh......Ken

Been there, Ken! I've ordered several custom molds over the years as the commercial offerings either didn't fit my bore, or as you discovered, were no longer available. All cast beautifully and gave great accuracy to boot. Yes, boys and their toys indeed!

Could even be an excuse to get a .577 Enfield.
