This may seem like a silly one, but is it critical how long the bullets remain in the water ? Can you take them out as soon as the whole mess is room temp or do they need to sit overnight, or what ? I'm talking about an oven heat and quench, not dropping from the mold into water.

I know the bullets themselves don't reach maximum hardness for about a day, but do they need to stay in the drink ?

I do not think so, I pull them out and spread on a screen to dry overnight.

These are water dropped from the mold but that should make no dif.

once they are hard you can deep freeze them to slow or stop the gradual age softening.

I've read other posts that claim quenched bullets will gain hardness up to 30 days. I don't know if that is ww's or certain alloys. They don't need to stay in the water any longer than to cool off. I hadn't heard of the deep freeze though.
