I may be able to score som Monotype or Linotype. Is anybody interested in some for $.90 per # plus Flat rate USPS shipping? I might be able to get a 55 gallon drum full, but need to buy it all. I don't need anywhere near that much for myself.

I think I will try and score the drum then. I figure it weighs at least 1500# maybe 1800. I just didn't want to get stuck with it. Since we are talking about the weight of the box, I should be able to get in 30-40# easy in the Flat rate box. I tried to put some big monotype letter in the flat rate and only copuld fit 26#. I may be able to melt some to make it fit better, but that would take up more time. I will have to double box them it I put in Muffin ingots, because they tend to split at the post Office. The last stuff I sent was damaged, and I don't think it all showed up. I sent another, and it never made it to the destination. Go figure.

Sure, I'm interested!

Let us know the price...

In 1 lb. ingots you can get up to 70 lbs. plus in the standard flat rate box. The box won't hold together with that weight though. You'll need to wrap it all three ways with nylon strand packing tape. Any direction you don't wrap it- it'll tear apart.

Flat rate is some higher, the more you put in (not truly flat rate anymore). You might try experimenting with larger, say 15 lb. ingots and tape them together to hold as a unit. I'll take a couple of boxes if you've got enough.

I can't buy a bunch, but I surely would love ten pounds of linotype to play with. Dumb question, will this come in ingots? I don't have a smelter yet. Thank you for any reply.

Sorry about being off the Board for a while. I still have not received a reply from the guy with the Type letters. He is a crotchety fellow and a PITA to deal with. I guess I have to make a trip just to talk to him.
I will honor the First come first serve requests if all goes well.\
I'll keep you guys posted.
