My wife let me use my anniversary present early. I cast up just under 11 pounds of these. They dropped at almost a perfectly round .311". The handful I weighed came in between 179.7 and 180.2 grains. I was pretty happy. Once I got the mold up to temp I was able to really crank them out.

Lot of deer have been turned into venison with that design...congrats, and I hope you get to REALLY use them soon.

I received that same mold in the mail Monday. I have put it in the oven running it through some heat cycles. Tonight I hope to Scrub it up with Dish soap smoke it and do the same thing you did. I have to admit I am pretty excited myself.

I have to admit I am pretty excited myself. I don't understand your process. First you bake on the oils. Then you scrub them off. Then you foul it again. Why?

I scrub first, check for burrs, then heat with propane to check if clean.

I did scrub it first I will do it again too.
Read the instructions that come with your mold. That is pretty much what I have done. Why scrub it again after heating? well when you heat a mold up any oil that was in the pin holes screw holes that you didn't get out when you washed it with soap and water because of the heat becomes less viscus and flows out of the holes ...another reason for heat cycling your mold.

Great mold, have one hollow pointed and one not HP'd. Find just a slight bit of an edge in accuracy with the HP. Super blts, and if I hunted with 308/06/or 30-30, would be my first choice.

I had a different thread in Leverguns asking about cast in a micro groove Marlin 30-30. A lot of advice and tips came from that along with a member giving me some 311041's to test out. I used 2400 and 4227 with no leading and great accuracy. Something I had not received from cast out of this rifle before. That is what sold me on the bullet design. Then I wanted to try one of the high end molds. My previous molds are two Lymans and a handful of Lees. I am very impressed with the quality of the NOE.

I plan on working up a load with a little more velocity than the 1600-1700 fps I got with the 2400 and IMR 4227. I really want to take a whitetail with it. I have taken them with handloads before but this would be one more facet I was involved in to make the final cartridge.

I have this mold from NOE and they look great but the accuracy with it and in a .308 isn't anything to be proud of YET! Im still testing. Hope to them again with some 5744 under them soon.
