I was in a different part of the state today and picked up a box of large pistol primers. when I got home I relized they were large pistol magnum (CCI) primers.

I use the large piston primers for Colt 45 , 255 grain boolit. Mostly I use trail box, or clays.
I shoot them in modern Uberti copies, bond snake slayer, Puma 1892 rifle.

I don't shoot heavy loads, these are for plinking, or cowboy action.

Its kind of hard to exchange them, the store is 100 miles away, and all they had was magnum primers.

Would you try them? I know you always start slow and work up. I do need to load a bunch of rounds at low power loads so the lady's can play with my guns this summer.
I can't get .22's for them to use, and I reload 45's for almost the same price, so why not let them shoot Colt 45 :)

I've loaded cowboy loads with magnum primers with no problems. 4.6gr Clays and a Lee 200gr RNFP in Starline brass with a CCI Large Pistol Magnum primer gives me right at 850FPS and fairly mild recoil. It's more accurate than I am!!!

Shouldn't have a problem using the minimum load data for those powders.
