Go to

www.shilohrifle.com/forums/

One forum is called "Shooter to Shooter", with 35 pages of posts, and the "Blackpowder Shooting" forum has 16 pages.

To ensure continuity of the subject matter, I'd recommend that you go to the earliest pages and work forward to the latest posts. You are truly in for some education, because many of the very best BPCR shooters in creation hang out over there. It's a fascinating place, and a fascinating sport....'specially for a bullet caster!

Also, check out Shiloh's main website at

www.shilohrifle.com

to see some gorgeous rifles....turn up the sound for the "Quigley" soundtrack....

Enjoy.

.........And for long long range shooting, there is a skill you have to learn and that's to read the wind.

The easiest way to get started is to use what the winners are using. After you've aquired all the stuff and have shot it enough to know, then comes the tweaking. And whether it's BPCR, ML'er or smokless cartridge rifles you only change one thing at a time.

We have a dedicated BPC silhuette shooter who frequents the range and he was all undone one Tuesday. I went down the line to visit with him, and got an earfull as to his problems. All his work had been done (testing & competeing) with one lot of Elephant 2Fg BP. He shot a Lonestar rolling block and his usual 200 meter accuracy was 2.5" or less.

He was out testing as he had finally run out of that lot # of Elephant (most these guys buy as much as they can afford of one lot) and was using new stuff. His 200 meter groups were like 6 and 8 inches for 5 rounds. He said he'd spent probably $75 calling all around the country trying to buy more of that Lot# to no avail. So he was now in 'Re-Test' mode to try and figure out this powder.

I think you waill also find that 99.9% of the serious competitors cast thier own boolits so as to have full control over everything. Most will also have several bullet moulds and probably several custom cut ones too. It's an exacting game which demands total concentraton in all aspects, from casting slugs to breathing, while shooting.
