Just a quick question. If Midsouth sold this special Lee mold would anyone here buy it? I sent a email to them and ask them to consider it. I think it would 20 dollars well spent.

Best Regards

I would, but I have little hope that it would get done. I've asked them many times to consider selling the Lee 7.62x39 designs in 6 cavity molds, and have never received an answer.

Midsouth seems to have done well with their "custom" Lee molds, and Midway seems to be selling plenty of their 300 whisper mold. I'm surprised more dealers don't consider some of these custom type molds. Too much trouble I guess.

There is an " Old Wive's Tale " that spire pt. cast bullets won't shoot..........

I shot some through my Ruger # 1 , 308 Win. Stainless Sporter rifle. 18.5 grs. IMR 4198, Lee 210 gr. HBC, sized .310 with the Lee Push Thru sizers , Lars 2500 lube , with Win. Large Rifle Primers.

Results speak for themselves ( 80 yards , 5 shots fired off the bench , rifle resting in sand bags )

The original GB was with aladin...... everyone remember him???? He showed high velocity groups (out of a 30-06 I believe) which were very good. Richocet got one good group in a 30 caliber magnum with it. Ben's load is loafing along at about 1,500 fps. It might work fine and it may not, just depends on where in the velocity spectrum you want it to go and how you load it.

I picked up one in a multi-mould purchase and have yet to shoot it, although I have cast with it at least 5 times lol. The boolit is just so darned cool! I ran into issues with length trying to make it work in my 300 blk and haven't returned to work on it . . . yet.

I have dreams of casting it in pure lino, powdercoating, checking, and running it in my .300 win mag.

Yes, I remember him. Traded some emails with him several years ago regarding his Lee HBC bullet. I no longer have the computer that had his email address. I wonder if he still looks in here from time to time.... Personally I got pretty good results from his bullet (h.t.w.w.) at 2,000 f.p.s. (36 / H414) in my 788 30-30. A few test groups at 500 meters averaged in the 1 1/2 - 2 MOA range. :D

Around the same time he was thinking of a .30 caliber bullet with a .25" or so meplat. I took some 311284's and using a lathe cut the noses back to a .25" meplat just to see how the accuracy would be. They grouped pretty well at 100 yards from one of my .30-30 lever gun's (2 1/2") but that's as far as it went.

Yes what is HBC?

And what differentiates this boolit from, say, a 311365? The lube grooves look like crimp grooves.

Very interesting, and good shooting, Ben!

Do a search here for "HBC" to read about the woes that MANY of us had/have with this bullet. It would be worth the time spent.

Yes, I passed mine along to somebody else years ago. The design has good potential, but not the way the original designed touted it.

Guys, if you really want one of these moulds I would suggest calling Dennis at Titan Reloading. He is only a few miles from the Lee Factory and if anyone can get it quickly he can.

His business is selling Lee Reloading tools, and that's all he does.

I think you'll get what you want out of him.

I picked up a similar HBC bullet Lyman mold in 25 cal at a gun show for cheap. In my Encore 250-3000, it is a wonderful shooter. You just can't hear it hit that 400 yard gong.
