Just wondering if anyone has used titegroup in 9mm luger & wondered how they like it.

I normally use Unique but have been unable to find any. According to Hodgdon website, using a 130 grn bullet, 3.9 grains is max load. Titegroup is a brand new powder for me and I have only used it in .38 Special so far & liked it.

What I don't know is for 9mm, is the small powder charge enough to cycle the weapon. I'm using a Ruger SR9c. Have loaded up a few rounds with 3.8 grains of Titegroup with a 130 grn cast bullet, but have not been able to get to the range yet.

Appreciate any insight.

Your load of 3.8 will work just fine. I think you will like Titegroup in the 9mm. I load 9mm for myself, my son and grandson. We shoot the lee 120tc bullet over 3.8gr Titegroup. The boolit weight is 124gr. They shoot Steel matches with the load and do very well with the load. Titegroup is near the Bullseye category as far as burn rate.

Thanks!

The bullet I'm using is the Lee 125 grn RN but cast with WW, comes out to 129.6 grains. For years, I have always used Unique but when I couldn't find it bought some Titegroup. Was very pleased in the .38 special. If it works well in the 9mm, this may have been a blessing in disguise as I'll be able to get almost an extra 500 loads with a pound of Titegroup.

Thanks again.

Yes it does work very well, if my memory serves me I think the 3.8 load with the heavy 120tc was giving a velocity of 1240fps over my chronograph. The load has been shot in 8 S&W autos and a couple different Springfield XDs with no problems. I also like Unique and load it in many different calibers. Always keep Unique around.

Tightgroup is starting to replace Bullseye for me. It's cleaner, meters better, isn't case sensitive and looks just as accurate from my guns. For target loads it's hard to beat.

I think you will like it so much that you'll move it to one of your "Prefered" powders. I've had great results with it using my Lee 124gr 2ogive TL cast boolits. Burns much cleaner then Unique and I seem to have better accuracy results with it as well.

just remember to reduce the load if you reduce the case capacity.
titegroup don't like to be squished.

You will love Titegroup in the 9. I used a charge of 4.0 Grains and a 124 Grain Berry's round nose bullet. I also have used TG in 38 special, 357, and 40 S&W. It is accurate in all of these although not the best powder for the 357. It meters well, has a very manageable recoil and is clean. A little goes a long ways.

Since I've found Titegroup I have been wishing I didn't have such a large inventory of Bullseye. Use it in the 9mm (SR9), 45 colt and 45 ACP. Really tightened up my groups on the 45 ACP. Burns cleaner and meters better. I also load the 9MM with 3.8 gr. pushing a 124gr. TC.

I appreciate all the input. Never would have tried it had Unique been in short supply at shop. Used Unique primarily for 30 years & will buy a 4 lb canister once shop gets it back in. Titegroup will however be on the regular menu. I do love how it meters better than Unique & is a very strong selling point.

Thanks again!

Titegroup has become my go to 9mm with both cast and jacketed 124-125 gr RN bullets.

You will like TG it has replaced Bullseye for me , been using it since it came out , and have used over 20lbs so far. It is my go to powder for loads from 700 to 1,100 fps in straight walled cartradges with cast bullets as 380, 38 special , 357 mag, 44 mag , 45 acp & 454 Casull.
For the 9mm & 38 super I have gotten my best absulate accuracy with powders in the med fast to med burning speed , like WSF, Power Pistol, HS6 . TG will work fine just not quite as accurate.

I concur with others - it works fine. Dad and I load a 125 grain LRN over 3.8grains titegroup. S&W 5906, and a KelTec (a chum's 9 I don't recall the model) both cycle it fine and accuracy is fine.

Like most have said, it's an awesome powder. I use it in all of my pistol rounds. A little goes a long way, accurate, meters fantastic and isn't position sensitive in a big case. Enough said.

Titegroup does work well although I have been having some luck with 231 in all of my nine's and 45's. My 357 seems to do ok with those but loves H110 for some reason although that is kinda dirty. I have 8lbs of Promo coming tomorrow so I'm going to be busy this weekend. :)

You could always sell some bullseye. ;)

Thanks for the input gents. The 3.8 grns of Titegroup works great with the 130 grn cast RN & accuracy is good.
