Well, I followed the advice here, how to clean the spout, (used the nail, couldn't find a paper clip), temp to pour, (jacked it up to 8), how to warm the mold, and filled the sucker higher with about 5 pounds of lead. Now the mold can reach the melt, no problem.
So, I started, and after 30 minutes, my back said ENOUGH! I have to get a small folding casting table of some kind.
BUT, I had only 5 rejects, and this is what came inside with me!

I think I am getting the hang of this part. I'll get a dutch oven and see about snagging wheelweights/etc later, and start smelting. I did get a hold of a buddy who runs an indoor range, and he agreed to start holding range scrap for me. No dirt...

Get some saw horses and a sheet of 1/2 plywood for a smelting table, just make sure it's steady.

A buddy at an indoor range south of me said he will start saving the range scrap for me. The only contaminate will be the occaisional piece of shredded tire, that the backstop is made of. No dirt, no rocks. He already has 5 or six pounds now. I need a dutch oven, and something to heat it.

Get some saw horses and a sheet of 1/2 plywood for a smelting table, just make sure it's steady.

Better make that 3/4 inch, half inch will bend with that much weight on it.

...............armoredman, just remember as good as they look and as fine an accomplishment as it, is you ARE supposed to shoot them. Yes, we can get attached to a fine run of cast boolits and they take on an aspect as if they were our chirruns or sump'tin. Ya gotta let them go and not hang on to'em just to take out and admire once in awile.

Besides, as a caster you can ALWAYS make more :-)
