Mrs. Thumbcocker is going to try and nail a gobbler on the back 40 this spring and feels a red dot sight on her 870 youth model will help this come to pass. Any suggestions will be appreciated. She will be using hevi shot shells and choke tube.

I agree on the BSA. I gave one to a friend for his 12g for turkey hunting because I wasn't using it and it lasted one season. I think they are a good idea, though. Make sure to get one rated for the gun.

I have an Aimpoint that is still going after being on a number of guns.

I use an Ultradot on a 41mag M657 S&W. It was used when I bought it from someone here. It's been on the gun for around 5 years with no problems.

The best bang for the buck is the 30mm tube Ultradot , with a lifetime warrenty around $150.00

I have both the Bushnell Trophy & Millet on various Contender pistol barrels, with no complaints. If I had the $$ though I'd get the Ultradot or Aimpoint.

I have abused an Aimpoint for about 12 years now. I mean every abuse, mistreatment possible through hunting and running and falling and rocks and cactus and sand and rain.... It has never failed me. I have only failed it. AND it works with my night vision.

+1 on all who mentioned UltraDot. One has been parked on my 12" Contender in 375JDJ for 5-6 yrs now. Coupla' hundred rounds and no shift in anything. And that is with 270gr j-words. I am only now working up a Boolit load, Thanks to Veral.

I personally love the distinct steps of the brightness settings. And battery life is great. Also as bobthenailer mentioned, the UltraDot guarantee is not to be overlooked.

I have a Bushnell mounted on a 870 12 ga, and would trade it for an UltraDot in a heartbeat!

The best so far at the price. I have nothing but Ultra Dots on all of my revolvers and even the .475 and .500 JRH thrive on them after thousands of shots from each. A shotgun or rifle just will never harm them.
I am never going to pay $500 to $600 for a red dot and just seen some of the Acog sights are over $1700.
I have destroyed Millet, Bushnell and Tasco red dots on my revolvers along with Burris and Swift scopes.
