It was only 25 degrees at the range, but the sun was out so I grabbed some ammo odds and ends (20 rounds) and did some shooting.

I have just put an old peep sight on my Mod. 94 and wanted to at least get it on paper. I used six rounds of Trail Boss-powered CBs to get on target (top). Then I ran six 10grain 2400 loads (loaded for my Stevens bolt) through the Winchester. Woo-hoo. Very pleased.

The boolit is from a LEE DC MOLD C312 throwing at about 180 grain-- sized to .314 and tumbled lubed with paste wax/alox.

It helped that the sun was directly on the target, making a crisp sight picture. Also one 6-shot group doesn't really prove anything--but shows potential.

I'm finished experimenting with Trail Boss and will stick to 2400, Unique and/or Red Dot with my 30/30-cast boolits.

Did the same thing today, looks like your rifle did better than mine. Weather was a bit nicer here, think we probably hit 70.

I've always liked 2400 both in a lever gun or pistol. It's one I always keep coming back to.

Working on a 2400 load for my 336 30/30 myself. 6 shots does prove something, much better than 3. What was your alloy?
