Neighbor and good friend called last night and asked if I could help him. Of course I can help, that's what friends and neighbors are for. Had to take the back hoe over and bury his wife's horse today. I think Mickey (the horse) was 26. He was a great horse all the time I knew him and I was sad to see him go. All went well I guess, at least there were no wrecks. I'm gonna miss that horse tho, even tho he wasn't mine. I have used him before, he was a good cow horse and always worked well. One of those big guys 16+ and weighed in about 1300 or so, always well mannered and did his job well. I guess I'm feeling a little puny over the whole thing. JW

Horses are like dogs and cats, can become good pets you hate to see pass.

A good horse, like a good dog or a good gun, is priceless and you never forget them. They are like family.

It's hard to say good-bye to old friends. Even if they are an animal.

Sorry to hear the sad news. I just buried one of our horses two weeks ago. He was our only stallion and was as gentle as any gelding could be. Old age got him too...I think his kidneys finally gave out. I have comfort knowing he had the best life any horse could ask for...3 geldings for company and 5 mares to keep things interesting. Plus he never had to pack in and out of the mountains like some of the others have. Again, sorry for the loss.

Like more than a few others on this board, you sound to me like you make a good friend there, JW.
