I am very excited... my 1st piece of equipment to my casting boolit future has been acquired.

I didn't realize that the Lyman Lube-sizer was soo small.

Anyhow, back to reading the sticky on rebuilding the Lyman 45, mine has no rust, just non-use from someones farm.

Rebuilding will commence on my next family downtime/holiday.

Thought I would share... I headed to becoming an official "boolit caster".

Welcome to the madness! I just completed a extensive restoration of one of the four I have.

Very nice machine.

I have used the 45, the 450, and the 4500.

They all do a good job.

armedmoose,
the 45 is a top choice by many here (except for a star, lol).
But, it has a fairly fragile handle and linkage,
so care needs to be used if the sizing job gets tough.

I have, I think, three of 'em.... Just don't hork down too much on the handle, and it'll give you years of faithful service. When you go to clean it up, get as much of the old lube out as you can, then take it apart (the reservoir IS threaded, unscrew it.) There's a "sticky" on the 45's here somewhere........

BTW, welcome to the insanity.....

Love the 45's, i have 2 and use them more than my 450.
handy having more than one, no die swapping, already set up when you need it
