So i got some lead pipe melted and dont have access to much ww. How much of a ratio should i kix with pure lead/ww to get about 11bhn. Is that a safe number to shoot out of a 3006? Or what ratio of alloy should i buy from roto metals if i need to go that route

go to the Lead and Lead alloy's forum and in one of the first sicky's you will see one labeled Lead alloy calculator. It is a very handy tool to have.

Clip-on wheel weights .5% Tin 2 % Antimony - BHN about 12. You need a lot of WW to get lead pipe to 11.

11 BHN will be OK out of a .30/06.

I would try to find Linotype to alloy the lead. Adding an equal amount of each will give you about BHN 12.

3 parts ww's and 1 part soft with about 1/2-1% tin added will give you @11 bhn.

i water drop from the mold for my gas checked rifles.
it just works for me.
many go to 50-50 ww and soft with the tin and waterdrop for normal rifle velocity's too.
