There was a post a few days ago about storing lubed boolits. I figure pictures would help.

there are two layers of 452 boolits in this pic seperated by cardboard, total is about 260.

I have them color coded blue=45acp, red=9mm, yellow=40s&w, green= oops guess i need to buy another gun to cast for just so I can use the green boxes. :-D

A little off topic, but what are the green lines on all of your boolet tips for?

if you look closely at the pic of my boxes you will see lines on my boolits too, mine are from counting the boolits so I knew how many fit in the box. Imagine that it's the same reason for his green lines, have been wrong before though.

I weigh them and multiply by the number of boolits per pound. 432640 allowing for cardboard/plastic about 26/Lb X 33 Lbs = 856. Those plastic boxes are pretty but I'll bet they didn't come with brownies inside. :-D

Mine are stored in this brass stuff then in baggies. But they then drive them selves out to the range and fly away, the brass things get picked back up. :Fire: You might say I shoot too much. but with primers getting hard to find I will be using organizers from hf to hold them

I store mine in cigar boxes. I save the cardboard backing off of note pads to separate layers. I may have to change to something else, as cigar boxes are getting hard to find. I use plastic coffee cans to store brass in. Loaded ammo go in ammo cans. I bought 2 pallets of them during the first gulf war for less than a dollar each. Lightman

Right now, I'm doing this in any recycled container I can get my hands on. My favorite is the jumbo mixed but container or peanut butter jars. Don't have good containers for stacking them neatly.

I use cigar boxes and can ususally find them in teacher stores.
At Christmas, I buy square metal boxes with nice fitting lids. Usually at wally world or some department store. Just after Christmas they're really cheap and they are a handy size, about 6 inches square and 2 inches deep with nice pictures of candy canes and snowflakes on the sides.

Mine are stored in ammo cans both loaded and unloaded. I try not to keep many unloaded since they're worthless in that state ;)

Amen, Shoestring, mine go in cigar boxes, each batch gets its own home and everything looks purdy ;)

I tend to favor the plastic containers ground coffee come in. They are good for 20 - 30 pounds. The ole steel coffee cans are called out when I have a bunch going 50+ pounds. You sure gotta remember to label them good. Dragging several heavy cans out to see what's in them reminds you that you did not label good enough.

Dealers choice. I do it both ways. I may cast a bunch up and lube a couple hundred and then store the unlubed boolits until later. I wait a couple of weeks before I load and shoot the newly cast boolits. I usually pan lube with Carnuba Red or BAC for heavier loads or use the 45-45-10 lube on light .38's.

I am impressed at the meticulous care some of you take off these boolits. Nice organization.

If you use a Lyman/RCBS sizer, the way you remove the boolit makes it easy to set them side by side. Keeps the lube perfect. We'll see what happens when I get a Mark VI or Star Sizer and they all go into a bucket.:-D

Shooting on a shoestring, would you tell me more about teacher stores? Cigar boxes are getting harder to find around here. Thanks, Lightman

One of the best ways to store bullets, primers and powder is in loaded ammunition.....smiles.

Not really -- when I tossed lubed bullets into a tub, I found that lube got all over everything (mostly from the residual on the :bottom of the bevel based bullets). Now I stack them neatly this way, and it saves time at the end: No longer have to wipe down finished rounds to get rid of the lube; plus my seating dies do not get plugged up with lube. Six of one - half dozen of the other, I guess.

Seems like it. I bought a hundred boxes from U-Line and just dump them in.

Ya'll know those clear plastic pint containers you get macaroni or tater salad in at the deli in your grocery store? I go to the local resurant supply (open to the public) and buy them in a sleeve of 50. They cost 10 cents each and the lids are 10 cents. So, 20 cents for a nice clean airtight container and they hold 6lbs. of boolits. They stack nice and I just sharpie the boolit on the lid/side. They also come in quart size. Don't know the price on them. Audie....the frugal (and lazy) Oldfart..
