Just finished 500 of these tonight, first time loading 9mm, what powders do you guys shoot behind this. Will be shot in a 9mm ruger P-94, an Kahr CW-9, any thoughts suggestiojns fine, have a large asst. of powders. Been shooting 45 acp, 44 mag, .357, .38 and 45/70 for 20+ years, just my first time with 9mm, an the new tumble lube bullets.

I use Unique, either 4.0 or 4.2 grains. My Lee 356-124 2R bullets weigh 129 grains after tumble lubing.

Your Kahr has polygonal rifling. This type of rifling causes more leading than a standard rifling. Kahr and H&K are okay with lead bullets but they recommend more rigorous bore cleaning. Glock recommends against non-jacketed bullets.

I'm using 4.5 gn of Unique with the 356-125-2R bullet.

Also the barrel in my buddies' CW-9 has standard rifling. I believe all of Kahr's economy guns are like that.

4.1 gr of W231. I use this in my Kahr CW9, a Kel-Tec Sub 2000, Berreta 92, CZ. Cycles all guns fine.

Koger--Just curious, what diameter are those bullets dropping from the mold? Also what alloy please.

My favorite 9mm load uses the Lee TL356-124-2R sized at .358, Winchester brass, a CCI 500 small pistol primer, and 5.2 grains of Hercules/Alliant's Unique. I get poor results (leading & bad accuracy) in my guns sizing 9mm at .355 or .356, around .357-.358 is where 9mm starts to work for me.

I use a loaded overall cartridge length of 1.10 it feeds well in my TZ-75, Ruger P89, Beretta 92, Browning Hi-Power, Smith 5906, and a Marlin Camp Carbine. I have not shot this load through a pocket 9mm auto pistol, other than a Smith 9mm J-frame revolver.

I tumble lube using either Lee Liquid Alox, or Recluse's 45-45-10. I prefer the JPW+Alox+Mineral spirits mix, rather than using straight LLA, but both work.

My Unique load seems a bit hotter than a few others, but it works well for me. It burns clean, and it is still within the safe range for Unique in 9mm loads.

I originally used the data from the 1986 Speer/RCBS cast bullet manual #1 at the time when I was working up the load.
(I have cross referenced & checked in more recent Lyman loading manuals since)

I worked my way up to that load slowly and safely, please do the same. I am still happy with the load today. It does not lead in my guns when sized at .358, and reliably cycles in all of my 9mm semi autos.

My older 6 cavity Lee TL356-124-2R drops 9mm boolits that are a tad over .358 diameter when cast with a high tin alloy.

They weigh around 116-117 grains, using my 1 part Monotype to 2 part WW lead alloy. Hope that helps some.

Given the current shortage of ALL powders I normally use, I feed my S&W SD9VE the 124 boolit and 4.8 grains of Hodgdon's Longshot. It's a shotgun powder but does very well in 9 and 40. I also use it in 357. Unless and until powder re-appears on shelves, we have to be creative. Worked so well that the LGS got another pound of it in and I bought that, too. Will go through it for sure.

The P-94 is a great pistol, especially for handloads. I started out loading for a P-95; t would eat anything I put in it. Back then, I used to actually BUY cast boolits. My pet load for 124 grain cast was 5.2 grains of AA5. I can't find the stuff anywhere now, though.

I cast the same bullets, and I've been using 5.2gr of AA#5 and 4.8gr of Unique. The AA#5 load is a slower/softer-shooting load. It may or may not make 125PF in a 6" barrel (probably would) - it falls a bit short in my gun (Ruger SR9c) according to my chronograph. The Unique load easily achieves 125PF, and then some, even with my short barrel. I get better accuracy, actually great accuracy with the Unique load as well. I found that although the load data calls for an OAL of 1.050, I had to load a bit longer to feed reliably with this bullet design (I'm loading to 1.100).

I've used 4 gr Bullseye under any 115 - 125 gr cast bullet in numerous 9mm's of handgun and subgun persuasion for many, many years with excellent results. I first started with Unique but found Bullseye perfomed better with 231 and HP38 being my next choices.
