I like the 38/357. This mold may be the easiest I have to use.

Is that 158gr?
I have a 150gr RCBS 38-150-KT mold that makes good boolits.

Standard Lyman 4 cavity 358429.

They do make a great casting mold! I have the 44 cal. I think the lube groove was designed for selling you more lube though.:-D

LAH,
What alloy composition did you use. I am going to try casting my second bullet type tomorrow, and I think that's the mold I'll use.

looks like ww's and a little tin to me.
about a 4-5 count on the sprue cut.

find the happy mold temp and they will fall out of the mold with a tap on the hinge pin.

Lefty these will weigh 'bout 170 grains. Your 38-150-K is a great boolit. If I could get that bullet in a 4 or 6 cavity mold I'd be selling it.

The alloy for these is straight air cooled wheel weights from Clintsfolly. These test a little higher than most at 13 BHN.

LAH, I have an original Lyman 358429 single cavity hollow point mold. I bought it when I was in college, about 1966-67. I'm pretty sure that I haven't cast 17 lbs. worth of HP 358429s since then!

The next time someone starts a group buy, I'm going to buy a 4-6 cavity 358429 to go along with my HP version. It's a great boolit.

The multi-cavity molds are much better if casting in bulk. My mold has probably cast close to a 1000 pounds of those. Makes my wrist sore just thinking of it. 27 is the high for tomorrow with snow so I'm going to cast with this mold along side a Lyman 358156, also a 4 cavity.

That is my one pet peeves with RCBS.

Clint your alloy is pretty clean & makes great bullets. It's also some of the best packed lead I purchase. Even though the Postal Service can be brutal your alloy so far has always been in the box.

My first mold was a 4 hole 358429 with the rounded lube groove. My present one is different because customers want the flat bottomed groove but in my test I see no difference.

Hay Lah my first boolit mold was a two cav 358429-- with WW of the time it ran 173 - in a blackhawk it would punch a hole in a 1955 buick bumper --neat--- used 13.5 of 2400 in 38 sp cases come to think of it the 6 gun may have been a colt trooper -- 1978 was a while ago -- anyway I still have a hankaring for keiths need to post some of mine some time

My first mold was a 4 hole 358429 with the rounded lube groove.

That's what I've been shooting the past 40 years. When I started casting I bought a 4 cav in 358495 (wadcutter) and 358429. I still have the latter but replaced the wadcutter with the H&G #50. I use it mainly at magnum speeds with max doses of 296 and it is as accurate as factory match wadcutters as long as I push it hard. I know Elmer complained about the round grease groove but it doesn't seem to matter IME.
