Had a full day of it. Separated two and a half buckets of wheel weights and came up with about one and one quarter buckets of lead weights and strips. Spent about five hours melting wheel weights and cast into ingots ( would have been less but it took me a while to figure out I should cover the pot). Came out to about 160 pounds of clean lead. Then I cast about two dozen boolits just to test the mold. a few wrinkles but i did'nt spend a lot of time getting the mold up to temperature. I'm exhausted but I learned a lot today.

Welcome aboard.

Just make sure to seperate out the zinc. That will foul up your alloy.

Also you may want to seperate the lead strips as they run softer and might best be used where a softer alloy is desired rather then just melting them in with your WW.

I have read recently that there are now some zinc stick on WW, so a person should likely check to make sure.
