Miroku Zouave Twist

Been looking at a Miroku Zouave.....anybody know what twist they used? I hear they made great guns. Any input or advice?

Im not sure the twist rate in that Zouave but I can attest to the quality of two rifles I have here made by Miroku. One is a Dixie Squirrel Rifle and the other is a Winchester Low Wall. The squirrel rifle has accompanied me on many trips into the woods and has never had any issues. The Low Wall is a .22 cal target rifle with a match chamber. Both will shoot better than I can hold. The only change's I have made is on the low wall the addition of the vernier rear and globe front sight and replacing the nipple in the squirrel rifle when the original was shot out. I have owned both of these for over 15 yrs.

beautiful stock.... with the patch box on the example i saw, I'd be thinking in the 70's. I've a london arms I think it is that is supposed to be a gain twist from like 1-60 or so to 1-48. The zoave and the musketoons are sturdy shooters and if you can get the sights right very accurate.... meaning 4" at 80 yards all day long...

Thanks, it is a nice looking rifle.....but the twist has me baffled.

i would look close at the barrel right in front of the bolster. see if the is a line there. some zouaves were made with a two pice barrel. the bolster was threaded on to the barrel. i have seen it in a few repros. if it is you don't want it. the antio zoli

I have a Miroku Zouave and it has a terrible barrel. The rifling is shallow and the reamer marks are pronounced.
I bought it cheap and planned to either have the barrel reamed to smooth bore or locate a good barrel somewhere and replace it.
Bob208 mentioned the other barrel problem, so go into the deal with your eyes open.

What is the problem with the Antonio Zoli zouave rifles?

i ment to say the antonio zoli are the best of the mass produced repros. some how i left some of my post off.

I've never looked at nor shot a Miroku Zouave. I would guess slow twist (70"+) as in the originals. I have and shoot both an original M63 Remington Zouave and an A. Zoli Zouave repro. They both have slow twist. The original Remington has a 7 groove bore and the Zoli has a 3 groove. Both shoot well with both minies and PRBs.

I passed up that rifle. I am getting a mint T/C Hawken and will replace the barrel or have it lined to shoot either PRB or conical. Leaning toward PRB.
