My friend wants a cast load for his Enfield 30-06 using my new boolit. I need to clean and slug the bore yet.
Powder and primers are limited with what we have left. Nothing can be found in the stores.
I need a good starting powder and load, good for deer, with my 186 gr boolit. Decent accuracy to 100 yards. We have a lot of different powders but amounts of each is very small.
Help is appreciated.

If it were me, I would start out with 28 grains of H4895, and work up. I use a little dacron also. I use this load for my 30.06 with a 180 boolit. I have yet to chrony, but I am guessing 1900 fps.

But I hear you on the supply thing. Ridiculous. I keep looking at my stock and figuring up how much I can shoot for X many months/years. Shouldn't have to be like that. Almost takes the fun out of loading. But on the flip side, I still enjoy casting so I think that for the next while I will just be building up a stockpile of boolits to shoot when the craziness stops.

Thank you, I have a little left to try.

On the brighter side, I don't think this "madness rush" is going to last as long
as the last one. I hoping we see that Congress isn't going to do anything too
meaningful, maybe a magazine cap ban, etc. I guess I'm just optimestic. I actually
believe they know the whole thing is a lie anyway. Looks like the OBummer is starting
to sweat, too. I love it.... Mike

if you have any 2400 give the 16-18 grs of that a try.
i probably have 8-900 rounds of 0-6 loaded with 18 grs and a lr primer loaded.
and another 100 done up with 19 grs and a large pistol primer ready to go.
4227 does well also but i don't have any of that anymore.
you could up the 4895 to 30 grs and skip the dacron too it seems to settle down right about there.
i know you have some h-322 and 24 grs of that does okay to outstanding but you will need dacron for it or it has inconsistent velocity's.
and the old 10 grs of unique does pretty well in lot's of 0-6's.

Wonderful. I will shortly get to work.

I'd probably go with 13grs of Red Dot in an 06.

Jim, was it you a while back that said you had a decent supply of SR4759? If so that would also work well, I would start about 22 gr and work up if needed. Standard primer & only crimp if needed for a magazine (or just so the media knows what I mean perhaps I should say "clip").

I got that load from you Larry. What can I say, it just plain works.

I agree riverfive, I almost said to go to 30, but every gun is different and 28 is good to start. I use the Dacron because it keeps the powder right in the same place and it just makes me feel good. Lol
