I tried Charlie Two Tracks solution, pushed the boolit’s base backwards down a mill file. This removed the skirt. Lightly lubed them with LLA/MS. Then pushed them base first through the, now, polished die. I dip lubed the boolits with 45/45/10.
I had lubed some of these boolits shortly after I cast them 8/9/2009 with Speed Green. I pan lubed with the SG. I ran these base first through the Lee .358 die.
I loaded 30 rounds of each and will give a range report when the range dries out. Well it was not dried out but I went anyway.
I chronographed both loads, 10 rounds each. This is the results.
The load is:.357 Mag., 12.1Gr.of Her. 2400, R-P brass cases once fired, the boolit wgt. as cast is 177 Gr., seated depth .436” WSP 1 ½ primers
With the Speed Green, High: 1205 Low: 1119 Average: 1159
Extreme spread: 85.9 Standard deviation: 31.3 Average deviation: 26.7
I cleaned the old 5 screw S&W 6” with break free at this point as it had been thus cleaned to start.
With 45/45/10 Recluse’ formula, High:1224 Low: 1165 Average: 1195
Extreme spread: 59.2 Standard deviation: 21.3 Average deviation: 16.8
I don’t know if the 45/45/10’s closer spread and deviations is the lube making the difference or just “Luck of the draw!”. I did however notice that the SG was much dirtier than the 45/45/10.
The groups at 25 yards were about the same. Just under 3” vert. X 2” horz. That’s about as good as these 72 year old eyes can do now. I remember when …….. [smilie=1:

I suppose you were shooting a 9mm, 38 spc., or 357 mag. Or 380, 38 Super, or 38 S&W, or.?? (: No, I see you were shooting in a S&W revolver so that eliminates some of them.:kidding:

I did leave out an important part of the load data. Has been edited.

friction.
something to not be overlooked, notice it tightens up the numbers when some is present.
