Ok, after having a convo in the chat room, I've decided it needs to be demolished and a new one installed.. I will be on the lookout for a new one. If anyone knows of one, or can show me one that they like, please let me know.
Thanks

Update,

Our chat room was causing havic on our database server due to the way it connected. So I switched things up a bit so it connected different and shouldnt cause any trouble with our forum (which it has been doing). So it's back up for now, but I am still trying to find that one perfect chat room :)

A friend runs an irc server, desolate.wasteland.org and he built a front end to use the irc chat system, he goes by asc and hangs out in #guns

http://www.subguns.com/chat/tbchat.htm

that way the real devotees eventually get irc clients and don't use the web front end.

just an idea.

Master: Tried the Chat this pm around 8:55 PDT. Got that damnable white on pale yellow or green that I CAN'T read, and wanted to take some time and set it up for black-on-white or vice-versa. But the Control Panel seems to have vanished altogether, now. I agree we need a totally different system. I would be happiest with plain text, caps and italics, and white on black as to me that seems more, well... CHATTY. I know this must be 'way more frustrating for you than for any of us, and I really DO greatly appreciate all your efforts and sent off a $$$ transfusion so you can get some more Carnauba wax seals for your next FWFL run and a few sips to relax with once you've got it sorted out (or - maybe - to give you the strength to tackle it once again). I hear some nostalgia for the old Shooters, but to me, the present setup is BETTER YET! (At least, once the Chat is sorted out, but to me that's an "extra") With all the new folks, it takes me a bit longer to sort through the "Today Show", but it is definitely worth it to meet new friends. floodgate

It's white text? It should be set to black text...
Also, I took out the control panel, too many options cause confusion.
Is anyone else getting white text?

Yea, I am darned frustrated with the chat, but I think it's a great feature to have, and if it takes lots of sips to get it sorted out.. Sooo be it :)

Works great for me. I think we should set up a chat time. I thought it was tuesday night, but am not sure. Maybe 9:00 EASTERN time? I'll be there.

Master: Some of it is white, the Room label, at the top, and some of the "Who's On"; others are black. Text is white on medium green and IS readable. Also, the LOGIN screen only comes up when I shut it down; I "X" it and stay logged-in. Very confusing! floodgate

I really liked the option of setting colors as I want them. I use a different color and "bold" text for my entries. Easy to tell other text that way.

What ever you decide. This is the only "chat" I use.

Must say that I do like the way the MSN Messenger screen works. I use that to "chat" with my Son.

Edited to change font on part of my message. The font I have set now doesn't work in all cases?

You guys coming in to chat, just hang there by minimizing the whole page by punching the minus sign at the very top right. Then come back every so often. I'll catch you there sooner or later. ... felix

Yea, some of the background is white in two different spots, everything is setup so it can be read easier. This was requested by many, and it was done. Also, all personal options are disabled, sorry c1pnr.

I don't get it. I spent time a few weeks ago, getting the chat features set like I want them. And they are always the same when I go back. Options still show on my screen. How come mine stays put, and others systems seem to change all the time? I guess as long as mine is being good, I'm happy!

You have a different status Waksupi. Moderators have all their options still with them, as do I. But the other members are the same default colors now.

Willbird,
Go here:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html
and delete all sites. And you should be back to normal.

The chat room has been seperated from the forums for a while now, so it won't effect the performance of the board.
