Anybody care to comment on the cartridge or the rifle ? I was offered a trade for a SR9c. (Looking for a .243 or larger caliber) I know it's obsolete but dies and brass were offered as well.

Decades ago I had one and wished I had never let it go. I fired 70 grainers in it a lot of times and yes that is a heavy long bullet for the 225 winchester but mine liked them and they did real damage to the wood chucks. I was working on a neighbors farm back then so I had lots of places to hunt and did just fine keeping the woodchucks out of the pastures and our cows from breaking legs stepping into a woodchuck hole.
Don't remember the load just the bullet and yes 55 grainers worked just find also.
Each rifle is different and you will have to work to fine just what this one likes.
But if I had a chance to get another cheap I would as I like the cartridge. Even been thinking of having a new one made for me with a 1 in 12 or 1in 10 twist instead of the 1in 14 that the savage 340v came with.

150-200fps slower than a 22-250... no slouch

I'd own one if I could afford it

it is a very popular rechamber for a 223 handi rifle, to give it more zip.

I don't think I could pass up that combination. I know its but ugly, but so am I.

Dies and brass are readily available. It is definitely an excellent caliber. My friend has one and it shoots quite well.

I have a set of C/H dies in .225 Winchester I'll let go of if anyone needs them.
